about

Amount releases an eclectic House/ Disco debut album beaming with sunshine, old-school sounds, and infectious optimism. A hedonistic celebration of life!

For a good decade now, Berlin-based producer, live act, and DJ Nayan Soukie has been stirring up the electronic scene as co-founder of URSL, one half of the DJ duo Soukie & Windish and with his solo project Amount. After playing several acclaimed trippy live sets that combined different genres of electronic music, and many musical capers for labels like URSL, Running Back, Frank Music, Little Helpers, and Laut & Luise over the years, we can finally announce his solo debut album on URSL Records!

"Expanding Abundance" is Amount's very own personal tropical paradise - a happy place for the ears. Created between Holzmarkt and the remote Landhof Studio near Berlin, snow hikes and fasting cures, this debut is a testament to Nayan's infectious optimism. Who else would have produced an album that beams with sunshine under the given circumstances?

As attentive fans have come to expect after experiencing his infamous live sets, Amount mixes diverse electronic genres with energy, pleasure, and ease. As such, "Expanding Abundance" is a wild, sprawling musical overflow that can only be held together by someone who has been around as long as Amount. In all the excess, Dark Disco and Happy Disco react to form a hedonistic celebration of life and music.

The opening Downtempo track "The Trip" of the album is also the first pre-released single. A retrospective on Amount's beginnings, it features organs and synth sounds, a vocal sample, and a fat hip-hop beat which create a harmonious melancholy over the sound of a siren. With the second single "Tropical Power", Amount moves up a gear and – between the lanes of Dances and Tropical house - drives you straight to the dancefloor. Microhouse mastermind Isolée adds a reduced and retro remix, included on the single only. The synth parade "Panik unter Palmen" comes as the third pre-released single and is as laid back as it is danceable. The remix for this track which is only included in the single comes from Phillip Lauer who turned it into a Smelly Happy Rave that rings in your ears like a panicked call of cotton candy.

"Rimini Dream" contains sounds, vocal samples, and production techniques of old House tracks, "Lovestorm" is equally retro Dance music, "Exotic Punch" is ultra-wavy and "Acapulco Beat" rumbles through Downtempo bass. On the album closer "Faces", Amount combines classic synth sounds with a slow Tech house beat and retro Disco vibes to create a track that will elicit a shy but enthusiastic "woohoo" from ravers. "Faces" will be released as the fourth single after the album release, along with a remix by Johannes Albert that transforms the Slow rave track into a Disco banger that heats the melodic synth line to run down like melted butter.
